If Europeans are honest in their human rights claims, why do they support the MKO terrorists? says Iran’s judiciary spokesman.
Gholamhossein Esmaeili, the spokesman for the Judiciary Branch in his weekly press conference, in reaction to the European Parliament’s request to the Council of Europe for imposing sanctions against Iranian officials for alleged human rights violations, said: “Nowadays, we are witnessing that the terrorist group MKO (Mojahedin-e-Khalq) who have assassinated thousands of people in Iran holding conferences in European capitals, with officials from those countries taking part.”
“He added: “If Europeans are honest in their human rights claims, why do they support these terrorists?” Terrorists who confess their crimes, and cooperate with Saddam’s Baath regime during the 8-year imposed war against Iran.”
Judiciary Branch spokesman said: “We do not consider the claim of protection of human rights in the Western countries to be sincere, Europeans’ human rights violation is so huge and their claims against other countries are 100% politically motivated without any legal basis,” Esmaeili said.
Esmaili elsewhere in his remark said that Europe’s claims on human rights are of no value to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s legal community.
The official underlined that hearing new ideas from people, particularly the elites, is the Judiciary’s aim, and some recent calls with elites were made within this framework.
Also speaking at his Press conference, Esmaili noted that the judiciary’s main mission is serving people base on the “Judicial Transformation Document.”
The Judiciary’s approach is that there is no difference between political or nonpolitical convicts, so Esmaili said the law must be implemented.
Mohammad Mossadegh has been appointed as the first deputy chief of the Judiciary, the spokesman said.
