Russian Diplomat Ambassador Andrey Baklanov said that Germany and its Minister of Defense do not have the moral ground to condemn Russia’s actions in Ukraine, because Russia was the victim of Nazi Germany and its policies in an interview that aired on Alghad TV (Egypt/UAE) on February 24, 2022.
He explained that it was the German nation and people who had brought Hitler and the Nazis to power and said that the Nazis killed 26 million Russians and six million Jews. Baklanov said that Russia is “preparing the ground for the restoration of normal life in Ukraine.” He added that Russia will not allow the “fascist regime” of Ukraine or any of its other neighbors to obtain nuclear weapons, and that “we will attack them before they even try.” Baklanov is the Head of the International Affairs Department of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, and serves as Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Association of Russian Diplomats.
Andrey Baklanov: “Today, there was a very strange speech by the German Minister of Defense. I believe that this lady, this German Minister of Defense, has forgotten the history of the Nazis. She has forgotten that Germany [was] a Nazi country, responsible for the killing of 26 million Russian people and six million Jews. So I think the German Minister of Defense should keep quiet, and that she should not teach us any lessons.
“They do not have the moral right to teach us any lessons. We were the victims of their policies. We were the victims of Hitler. Hitler was not acting alone. Germany, the nation and the people, brought Hitler [to power]. So they cannot teach us [any lessons] now. I think that in 1941 there were atrocities. We are all familiar with the past, and we will not allow any aggression against us. We are preparing the ground for the restoration of normal life in Ukraine.
“We will never allow this fascist regime to obtain nuclear weapons. We prevented Hitler from obtaining nuclear weapons, and we will prevent any other country in our vicinity from obtaining nuclear weapons — especially the Ukrainian regime. No. We will not allow this. We will attack them before they even try.”
