Pro-Hamas and Iran Telegram Outlets React To Jordan’s Muslim Brotherhood Ban

On April 23, 2025, Jordan has outlawed the Muslim Brotherhood, its most prominent opposition group, following the discovery of members’ involvement in a sabotage plot aimed at Jordanian authorities.

Interior Minister Mazin Fraya declared a complete ban on the group’s activities, stating that anyone promoting its ideology would face legal consequences.[1]

The decision has ignited fierce criticism from regional actors who view the move as an attack on Palestinian resistance.

“True Heros”

A pro-Hamas Telegram channel based in Gaza praised the arrested Jordanians, describing them as “true heroes driven by outrage over the suffering of Gaza’s children, women, and elderly.”

The post, which featured the detained cell members, accused Jordan’s “functional regime” of arresting them on “fabricated charges” tied to national security and expressed hope for their imminent release.[2]

“King Of Tomatoes”

Similarly, a post by a Telegram channel affiliated with Iran-backed Iraqi militias condemned Jordan and its monarch, King Abdullah II. The message mockingly referred to King Abdullah as the “king of tomatoes,” for arresting individuals allegedly attempting to smuggle weapons to the Palestinian resistance in the West Bank. The militia claimed Jordan’s actions demonstrate opposition to Palestinian resistance efforts:[3]

“Jordan, the normalizer, and its king, the King of Tomatoes, arrest resistance fighters who were attempting to smuggle weapons to the Palestinian resistance in the West Bank. Jordan is against the Palestinian resistance,” it said.

In a second post, the channel escalated the rhetoric, accusing Jordan’s “tomato regime” of orchestrating a “despicable play” to criminalize support for Palestinian resistance and silence pro-Palestine voices within the country.

The channel further alleged that Jordan’s actions serve to prove its loyalty to American and Zionist interests, portraying the kingdom as an obedient “guard dog” devoid of dignity or sovereignty.
