In the past week, fighting erupted in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh near Sidon between Islamist factions and Fatah, after one of Fatah’s military commanders, Abou Ashraf al-Amroushi, was assassinated on July 30. While the fighting was hardly an anomaly, the fact that the head of the Palestinian General Intelligence Service, Majed Faraj, had visited Lebanon only days before fueled speculation that his visit might have triggered the fighting. Tensions between Hamas, which maintains good relations with Palestinian Islamists, and Fatah have surged in the West Bank and might have impacted the events in Ain al-Hilweh.

Il devient de plus en plus évident pour un nombre croissant de personnes en Occident que quelque chose a terriblement mal tourné avec le projet ukrainien. Les prédictions et les projections ne se sont pas réalisées et l’Occident ne semble pas savoir quoi faire. L’économie russe n’était pas un château de cartes comme on l’avait prédit, les armes russes n’étaient pas inférieures comme on l’avait prédit, les soldats et les commandants russes n’étaient pas incompétents comme on l’avait prédit, et la technologie russe n’était pas inférieure comme on l’avait prédit.

Simple citoyen, j’accueille bientôt mes 58 années sur cette terre et je voudrais partager certaines observations et réflexions issues de multiples échanges, lectures et analyses émanant de contacts divers logés en Afrique, Caraïbes, Canada et Europe durant la décennie passée avec une acuité particulière sur les trois dernières !
