Yemeni-Imposed Maritime Blockade on Palestinian Occupied Ports, Cripples Israeli Trade and Economy

News – Middle East: The Zionist media confirmed that the port of Umm Al-Rashrash, “Eilat,” is completely closed due to the blockade imposed by Yemen on Zionist ships in the Red Sea.

The Zionist website “Passport News” quoted the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Port of Eilat as saying: “The port is effectively closed, with no traffic movement, due to attacks by Yemen on ships in the Red Sea. It is very saddening to see the port standing still, with no exports or imports.”

He explained that the continued closure of the port also harms the city itself, as tourist ships cannot arrive, and the entire city benefits from their arrival.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the port called for compensation to be determined for the closed port, which has suffered significant damages. He added that when imports from the East cannot pass through the port of Eilat, it harms all citizens.

In the same context, the Zionist newspaper “Israel Today” confirmed that the giant maritime shipping , “Maersk,” has raised container shipping rates to the entity by 3.5 times after its ships were forced to change their routes away from the Red Sea and navigate around Africa.

The newspaper pointed out that the prices of containers heading to “Israel” have become more costly, reaching over $7,000 per container, after the world’s largest shipping company, MSC, announced its suspension of the use of the Red Sea.

In another blow to the Zionist economy due to the maritime blockade imposed by Yemen on the occupying entity, the Chinese shipping company, “COSCO,” suspended its voyages to the ports of the Zionist enemy.

The Zionist economic newspaper “Globes” considered the decision by the Chinese company, which is the fourth-largest shipping company in the world and contributes to about 11% of global trade, to halt visits to the entity’s ports as an extraordinary and highly surprising step. In addition to affecting trade between the Far East and the Zionist enemy, the decision of “COSCO” is important because it collaborates with the Zionist shipping line “ZIM,” which will have to operate more ships on Far East routes, according to the website.

The second direct impact will be on the port of Haifa in northern occupied Palestine on the Mediterranean Sea, which is managed by another Chinese state-owned company, “SIPG” (Shanghai International Port Group). The port relies on many “COSCO” ships that visit it.

The Chinese shipping company maintains a weekly container transport line to the port of Haifa Bayport, which was launched in 2021, and the Chinese giant has another line that operates in cooperation with the Israeli shipping company “ZIM,” according to enemy media.

According to estimates from shipping industry sources, the decision by “COSCO” will primarily affect Haifa Bayport, despite being operated by a Chinese company, and “ZIM,” which will have to find an alternative to its joint line with “COSCO.”

The Chinese shipping company intends to end its journey in the Mediterranean Sea at the port of Piraeus, which it owns. The containers it transports to the Zionist enemy will be unloaded there and sent to Israel using other companies’ ships.

In conjunction with missile and drone strikes, and in escalating steps, Yemen has imposed a maritime ban on ships heading to the Zionist enemy through the Red Sea in response to the Zionist aggression and the genocide war against the Palestinian people in Gaza for the past three months.

Since its entry into the war in support of Gaza, with operations that have had catastrophic repercussions on the enemy’s economy, the Yemeni Armed Forces have announced the implementation of 9 naval operations targeting 12 ships affiliated with the Zionist enemy that refused the warning calls and messages and did not respond to them.
