Nigeria Security Tracker Weekly Update: March 26–April 1

Below is a visualization and description of some of the most significant incidents of political violence in Nigeria from March 26 to April 1, 2022. This update also represents violence related to Boko Haram in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. These incidents will be included in the Nigeria Security Tracker.

March 26: During an attack on the Kaduna airport, one civilian was killed and troops killed twelve bandits.
March 26: Police officers killed four bandits in Ukum, Benue.
March 26: Bandits kidnapped thirty in Munya, Niger State.
March 27: Bandits killed one and kidnapped fifteen in Munya, Niger State.
March 27: Bandits killed fifteen in Giwa, Kaduna.
March 27: Cultists killed eight in Sagamu, Ogun.
March 28: Gunmen bombed a police station in Obowo, Imo, killing two police officers.
March 28: Bandits killed eight and kidnapped “many” others (estimated at twenty) during a bomb attack on a train in Kachia, Kaduna.
March 28: Gunmen killed “some” (estimated at five) during an attack in Enugu, Enugu.
March 28: Bandits killed three in Gurara, Niger State.
March 28: Suspected herdsmen killed one and kidnapped eighteen in Ughelli North, Delta.
March 28: Gunmen killed five in Bassa, Plateau.
March 28: Suspected herdsmen killed four in Guma, Benue.
March 28: Bandits killed six in Zangon Kataf, Kaduna.
March 28: Bandits killed six soldiers in Gurara, Niger State.
March 28: Boko Haram killed fifty Islamic State in West Africa (ISWA) militants in Abadam, Borno.
March 29: Bandits killed twenty-three and abducted “others” (estimated at ten) in Giwa, Kaduna.
March 29: Herdsmen killed three in Gwer West, Benue.
March 29: Twenty soldiers and nine bandits were killed during a clash in Gurara, Niger State.
March 29: Bandits kidnapped an unspecified number (estimated at ten) of travelers in Chikun, Kaduna.
March 29: Kidnappers abducted seven in Kabba, Kogi.
March 30: Nigerian Air Force (NAF) airstrikes killed thirty-four bandits in Kachia, Kaduna.
March 30: NAF airstrikes killed fifty bandits in Maru, Zamfara.
March 30: NAF airstrikes killed “many” (estimated at twenty) ISWA militants in Kukawa, Borno.
March 30: Bandits kidnapped ten in Zaria Local Government Area (LGA) and two in Kajuru LGA in Kaduna.
March 31: Bandits killed seventeen in Anka, Zamfara.
March 31: Bandits killed three and kidnapped twenty in Chikun, Kaduna.
March 31: Fulani herdsmen killed two in Bassa, Plateau.
March 31: Kidnappers abducted seven students in Okigwe, Imo.
March 31: Bandits killed two officers and twelve soldiers in Suleja, Niger State.
March 31: Hoodlums burned down the Anambra Local Government Secretariat, killing two, in Nnewi South, Anambra.
April 1: One civilian and one kidnapper were killed during a clash between the kidnappers and police officers in Ikwo, Ebonyi.
April 1: Cultists killed four in Emuoha, Rivers.
April 1: Bandits killed five in Danmusa, Katsina.
April 1: A communal clash led to one death in Lavun, Niger State.
