The spokesman for the Iranian government, Ali Rabiei, said that any resolution in violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 is unacceptable and is a mockery of international law, adding that Iran will show a proportionate and decisive response to any provocative and illegal action.
Commenting on the consequences of submitting the US resolution to the UNSC to continue the arms embargo on Iran, Rabiei said “The United States, according to its leaders, has withdrawn from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and has no right to support the text of the agreement or the UN Security Council resolution until it fully returns to it and fulfills all its obligations.”
The Iranian government spokesman added “The US regime is well aware that this destructive, lawless and malicious attempt will turn into another catastrophic and isolating failure; The Americans’ insistence on continuing this already-failed path can only mean stubbornness in accepting the facts.”
Rabiei noted “The reality is that the international community is determined to uphold the laws, agreements, and regulations between nations, and it is a high and insurmountable barrier for the United States when shaking the foundations of global stability and security.”
The spokesman highlighted “It seems that misguided policymakers in the United States are willing to continue to insist on their inability to understand international truth to the point where they make the United States and its leadership more invalid than ever.”
Rabiei further stressed “The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to prove that it will not show the slightest negligence in providing a proportionate and decisive response to any provocative and illegal action.”
Rabiei went on to say “Before the US action is a threat to Iran, it is the utilization of the UNSC mechanism to threaten the international body and ridicule the mechanism of multilateralism. The United States wants to use the Security Council’s leverage against the UNSC, itself, and against the international institutions and multilateral mechanisms.”
