China’s Reunification In The New Era – OpEd

China published a white paper titled “The Taiwan Question and China’s Reunification in the New Era” on August 10,2022 reiterating its claims over the self-ruled island. This is the third white paper, the two earlier were published in August 1993 and in February 2000. Chinese state media said the white paper demonstrates the country’s resolve to national reunification. The white paper said the Chinese community party (CCP) is committed to the historic mission of resolving the Taiwan question and realizing China’s complete reunification.The reiterated Chinese stand of this third white paper:

Iraq In Political Turmoil

On July 30 hundreds of supporters of Moqtada al-Sadr, one of Iraq’s leading political figures, breached the parliament building in Baghdad’s fortified Green Zone, forced their way inside, and started a coordinated sit-in to protest at the recent nomination of Mohammed Shia al-Sudani for the premiership. Sixty protesters were injured in clashes with security forces. Three days earlier a mass protest outside parliament by al-Sadr supporters had ended only after al-Sadr tweeted a request to them to disperse.

Η χθεσινή παρουσία του πρωθυπουργού στη Βουλή ήταν τραγική. Κι αυτό γιατί ήταν ομολογία και αποκάλυψη της απόλυτης πολιτικής παρακμής. Ο άνθρωπος που διοικεί τη χώρα δεν ήταν σε θέση να εγγυηθεί τη δημοκρατική νομιμότητα, απέφυγε να δώσει ουσιαστικές και πειστικές απαντήσεις στα καίρια ερωτήματα της αντιπολίτευσης, κατέφευγε διαρκώς σε ψεύδη, παιδαριώδεις υπεκφυγές, αστείες δικαιολογίες. Το χειρότερο όμως είναι ότι στη βάση όλων αυτών υπερασπίστηκε το καθεστώς των παρακολουθήσεων που ο ίδιος δημιούργησε.
